We are so excited to be partnering with the American Heart Association! With the American Heart Challenge, we’ll raise funds and awareness for things like congenital heart defects, nutrition security, CPR training, mental well-being and more as we work to end heart disease and stroke. The education that our 7th graders, in particular, will gain could save a life. It is our goal that all our students feel confident in performing hands only CPR or at the very least know what to do in a heart related emergency. Through your participation and support you're not only helping hearts in our community, but you're also helping those who need it most. Your donation will fund groundbreaking research and programs that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives. Thank you for helping us reach our goal! For more information or to register a student that is not currently in a Health or Everday Heroes course go to: http://www2.heart.org/goto/Spring_Creek

The survey is an opportunity for students to anonymously share their experiences of their school’s climate with their school, school district, and NDE. To learn more about the survey, visit nevadaschoolclimate.org. Parents can preview the survey by viewing the attachment in your email. Questions on the survey are optional. Students can choose not to answer any question they do not want to answer. If you have any questions about the NV-SCSEL survey, please contact Spring Creek Middle School at 775-777-1688.

Spring Creek Middle School will observe the Week of Respect next week, Oct. 7 through Oct. 10. Schools across the state will participate in activities all week to emphasize a safe and respectful learning environment per NRS 388.1395. SCMS students and staff are encouraged to “Get Your Blue On” on Thursday, Oct. 10 by wearing blue. This unifying gesture demonstrates that SCMS is committed to reducing instances of discrimination based on race, bullying, or cyberbullying in our schools and treating each other with respect. The weekly advisory and lunch activities will be centered around this theme and building a stronger school community. Pledge to be an Upstander in your community: I believe everybody has the right to live in a community where they feel safe, included, accepted, valued, and respected regardless of their differences. I make a commitment to stand up against discrimination based on race, bullying, or cyberbullying. I will treat others with respect and kindness. I will have the courage not to bully. I will not be a bystander. It is my responsibility to report discrimination based on race, bullying, or cyberbullying. I pledge to be respectful of others and to stand up against discrimination based on race, bullying, or cyberbullying whenever and wherever I see it.
